Niigata Skateparkミューラルアート導入
1964年の新潟地震により新潟市の西港は壊滅的な被害を受けました。昭和大橋の落橋、佐渡汽船埠頭は船が着けない程の被害を受け、新潟西港の工業地帯も海水に覆われました。これらの惨状を救い、西港の復興に欠かせない一つの力に、ジャズアーティストDuke Ellington（デューク・エリントン）による大きな善意の力があります。それは、当時来日していたDuke Ellingtonが、新潟の惨状を聞き、ハワイ公演をキャンセルしてまで、東京にて新潟地震救済資金募集の特別コンサートを行い、収益金をすべて新潟市に贈りました。後にこれらが切掛けで、新潟市より国際親善名誉市民の称号を受けました。こういった背景と功績をNiigata Skateparkに集う次の世代に伝える為に、作品コンセプトをDuke Ellingtonが奏でるメロディが、夕暮れの新潟の街に響き渡るイメージで制作しました。

Introduction of Niigata Skatepark Mural Art
Due to Niigata earthquake in 1964, West Port in Niigata city was devastatingly damaged. Collapse of Showa Ohashi, Sado Kisen Wharf suffered damged to an extent that ship were impossible to reach port. The industrial area of Niigata West Port was also covered with seawater. To save these miseries and reconstruction of West Port, power of great goodwill by the Jazz artist Duke Ellington was indispensable. Ellington, who was in Japan when earthquake hit Niigata, heard such tragedy and immediately canceled his performance in Hawaii to hold a charity concert in Tokyo to support Niigata, and gave all proceeds to Niigata city. His great action had led him receive the title of International Friendship Honorary Citizen from Niigata city. To convey this background and achievement to the next generation that gathering at Niigata Skatepark, this piece is created as the image of melody that Duke Ellington plays reverberating in the city of Niigata at dusk.

NOVOL
1979年生まれのペインター、デザイナー。東京在住。2002年、JAZZに衝撃を受けて絵を志す。以来、人間と音楽の漲る関係を、人間性溢れる顔をベースに描き続けている。インプロビゼーションさながらの画力とスピードはインパクト絶大。現在までに、様々な手法で作品を残しながら、ジャンル問わず様々なアーティストやコンピレーションのCD/LPジャケットや、フライヤー＆ポスター等、音楽関連のデザインワークを数多く手掛け、アパレル、企業、雑誌へのイラストレーション提供や、最近ではTV番組のOP映像を担当するなど、幅広く様々なコラボレーションを展開している。さらに全国各地をツアーで周り、店舗内外装壁画やライブペインティングなど精力的に描き続け、人との出会いを楽しみながら、活動の幅を広げている。
NOVOL, born in 1979, Tokyo based Painter/Designer. Ever since he’s been shocked with Jazz music in 2002, he’s inspired to express the overflowing connection between human being and music through painting portrait which evoke every aspect of personhood. His style is almost like improvisation, the edge for his painting skill and finishing pace give huge impact among the art industry in Japan. He has designed a number of music-related pieces such as cover art for album/LP, flyers and posters. Now he has expanded his horizon to fashion industry, corporate enterprise and publishing industry. His amazing merits have led him in charge of creating visual image for TV program as well as developing various collaborations. NOVOL is energetically visiting places all around the nation on tour, painting murals, decor for premises along with live-painting performances. His eagerness in meeting new people gives him more range of activities and he is absolutely enjoying it!
