Niigata Skateparkミューラルアート導入
スケートボードは失敗すら称賛されるスポーツです。段階的に技を身に付け、様々な技の組み合わせを習得しながら上達していく為、難度の高い技や組み合わせがすぐに出来るようになる訳ではありません。他のスポーツに比べ大きな怪我をする可能性も高いでしょう。怪我への恐怖に打ち勝ち、何度も果敢にトライする必要があります。そして、その失敗を繰り返しながらトライしている姿に人々は称賛を送るのです。
今回はスケートボードの練習施設の壁面への作品タイトルを「失敗と成功の龍」としました。赤と青のうねっているラインが、それぞれ失敗と成功の龍を表現しています。成功の裏側にはたくさんの失敗があり、その失敗を尊重することで成功が成立しているという表裏一体の龍の姿を表現した作品です。

Introducing Niigata Skatepark Mural Art
Skateboard is a sport that deserves plaudits even when it’s failure. Due to skaters gradually acquire skills and improve while acquiring various combination of techniques, it is nearly impossible for high-level techniques and combinations to be readily mastered. Compared to other sports, there is a high possibility of major injuries. Skaters must overcome the fear of injury and boldly try it over and over. People commend the skaters who continues to challenge boldly even while repeating failures. This mural art piece at skateboarding practice facility is titled “Dragon of Failure and Success” and each red and blue undulated lines representing the dragon of failure and success. Dragons in this piece are expressing there are many failures behind the every success and appreciating these failures lead to success, in other words, “success and failure are two sides of the same coin”.
Special appreciation extend to boosters who have supported in making the piece.

Jun Watanabe
クリエイティブディレクター／グラフィックデザイナー。ファッションを中心に国内外の様々な企業・ブランドのデザインを手掛ける。自身のブランドレーベル「JUN WATANABE」名義でアパレル・雑貨などを展開する一方で、Reebok、ASICS、PRO-kedsなどのスニーカーブランド、「エヴァンゲリオン」「とある科学の超電磁砲」などの人気アニメ作品や、世界的人気を博しているボーカロイド「初音ミク」ともコラボレーション商品を手がけるなど活動領域は広い。模型メーカー、タミヤとはアパレルに特化したコラボレーションライン「TAMIYA by JUN WATANABE」を展開。ウェア・バッグなどの新作を定期的に発表し続けている。著書にこれまでの仕事を集めた作品集「Display case by JUN WATANABE」（全128P・ハードカバー）がある。毎年アートエキシビションなどのイベントも定期的に行っている。
Creative director / graphic designer. Watanabe has worked on designing various corporates and brands centering on fashion, both domestic and international. While expanding apparel and miscellaneous goods under his own brand label JUN WATANABE, he had collaborated with sneaker brands like Reebok, ASICS, PRO-keds, popular animation works like “Neon Genesis Evangelion” “A Certain Scientific Railgun”, globally famous VOCALOID “Hatsune Miku”, all of them show wide range of his work. Watanabe has also developed collaboration line “TAMIYA by JUN WATANABE” specialized for apparel with TAMIYA PLAMODEL FACTORY and continued to release new clothing and bag collections on a regular basis. Watanabe regularly holds events like art exhibitions every year. Collection of his past work “Display case by JUN WATANABE” (total 128 pages, hardback book) is also on sale.
